Megeve

In January 2024, we spent nine days in the French ski resort to ski with family and friends. In this guide, we will tell you a little about our days in the Alps.

Megève’s history dates back to the 1920s, when the Rothschild family began to frequent the village and turned it into an elegant ski resort. Even Brigitte Bardot came to Megève in 1959 to spend her second honeymoon with Jacques Charrier.

Decades later, the picturesque village in the Savoyard mountains is still one of the coolest resorts in the world, with great restaurants and bars, cozy hotels, a great location, easy access, good slopes and infrastructure.

Summary

Megève: 8 nights

The Arrival

We went from Lyon to Megève by car, we booked a transfer that took us there, the journey takes approximately two and a half hours. The road is beautiful and access is easy.

The Chalet

We rented a chalet that was a 16-minute walk from the center of Megève and about an 8-minute walk from the Rochebrune mountain lift. With a very cozy, alpine style, the chalet accommodates 18 people and we were in a group of 13 people. It has 8 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and a guest toilet, spread over three floors. Here is the link to rent the chalet.

Hotels

Here are some hotel options as a suggestion:

Skipass and ski rental

We always started skiing from Rochebrune mountain and rented equipment at Henry Sports , a shop opposite the lift. You can buy a ski pass online in advance - it works out cheaper - through the Megève website .
